This is a hand drawn digital painting to canvas of David Attenborough. With a total paint time of 70 hours. It was painted by celebrity portrait artist John Donaldson from Bristol. John has, to date, created artwork and worked for over 150 celebrities/sports stars. John has featured several times in the media, including on the BBC for his painting of Her Majesty The Queen.
The canvas is 75x100cm in size and is a one of a kind piece. It comes with certification from the artist.
Background
John said, “It’s a huge honour for me to be involved in helping my friends Louise and Marcus Stewart, as well as Richard and Stuart at Artists Against MND. To raise awareness and funds for such an important cause. The painting is titled ‘Deep in Thought’, as a reflection on what it is David could be thinking about. The planet? The way of the world today? Or life in general? We all have deep thoughts and feelings sometimes, and I hope this is something my painting captures.
I personally believe it is my best piece ever. I felt under pressure, because of who David is and the respect I have for this man. I just wanted to make it as good as I possibly can. It has taken around 70 hours of work. In all honesty I have enjoyed every second of it. If I am going to be remembered for a painting, this could well be it. This is probably the biggest painting I have ever done. Not in size, but the magnitude of the man. David is adored all over the world”.
