Hugh Frizzell

Biography

Hugh Frizzell
Aka - deepriverman_arts

Originally from Greenock, Hugh is now based in the town of Gourock on the banks of the River Clyde near Glasgow. The term ‘Deep River Rats’ are given to Greenockians due to the unique coastline which the town lies on and is one of the deepest charted coastal waters in the UK.

Always keenly interested from an early age in drawing, art and music, Hugh returned to creating his distinctive style during the year ‘20 during COVID lockdowns and has subsequently carried this on to the present day. He also plays guitar and is co-writer in Hippy.

DRMA calls on his varied musical and artistic influences, his hometown and social history from his native region - Hugh recognises his influences ranging from Banksy, through various modernist/ Pop Art styles, Jackson Pollock (and in turn - John Squire 🎸) amongst others.

He has been fortunate to be commissioned for his work already and has developed a loyal following within the online art community and is very proud to be a supporter of our Artists Against MND campaign.
