Our charity - Mel Evans MND Foundation
The Foundation was set up in memory of Mel Evans MBE. Mel was diagnosed with MND in 2016, and sadly passed away in July 2017. The Foundation exists to raise awareness, organise fundraising events and to fund research, which will eventually cure MND.
Every single person involved in the charity has been affected by Motor Neurone Disease. Including local volunteer, Richard Brailsford, who lives in Witney and lost his Dad to MND in 2013. The Duke have been supporting Richard’s ‘The MND Army‘ fundraising since we opened, including via Dukefest.
A notable honorary Patron is Geoff Burrow. Geoff was a tireless campaigner, and the father of the late Rob Burrow CBE. Rob, Kevin Sinfield and Geoff transformed awareness and fundraising through their efforts. He was a proud patron and we sadly lost Geoff in March 2026.
We are an innovative charity, where every single person is powered by those with MND and those we have lost. A cure is not only a wish, it is an obsession.
A special mention to two perpetual patrons, who we sadly lost to MND. Jord Pilkington who died at 27 and ‘Sir’ John Adams. Forever in our hearts and memories.
