Kaplan Gadson Musinguzi is an African artist, who lives within Bwindi Forest National Park in Uganda. After an initial discussion, Richard met Kaplan on a WhatsApp video call, and had a tour of Kaplan’s studio and ‘met’ some of his friends and family. His work features in premium art galleries. Kaplan is our only artist in residence at an ape sanctuary!! Kaplan is inspired to capture the endangered wildlife he sees. He is especially attracted to drawing apes. He studied art and design at Michelangelo College of Creative Arts in Kisubi. His major styles are scribbling, pen and pencil drawing, painting and sculpting. Using just a ball point pen he captures the emotive expression in the eyes, and through his art he hopes to make people aware of the damage climate change is doing to these animals’ habitat. We are so grateful to Kaplan for gifting his original work. Especially as Richard’s Dad was a supporter of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
